In the middle of the 19th century, a series of smaller islands off north Fyn were combined with dikes. Draining with windmills were commenced behind the islands.. 50 years later the land started to be cultivated and today it is called “Gyldensteen diked land”
Store Stegø (Great Stego) is today, together with Lille Stegø (small Stego), a part of the island Fynen but still a place with quietness and relaxing atmosphaere and in walking distance to the old historical village Bogense |
